At the zoo: Insights on men’s worldview

Standard

maxresdefaultThis afternoon I was working in a nice terrace on the rooftop of a shopping mall in Lisbon. The sun was shining, a mild wind was blowing, life was good… and two guys arrived and sit just next to my table…

It was hard not to listen to their conversation, not only because the content was so engaging, but also because the tables were at that social desirable distance we are used to in southern countries, enough close to enable a possible interaction if that will be the case.

What about intuition?

Standard

albert-einstein-intuition-300x190As usual I never follow my plans, not in my work, not in my life, not in my blog! Yesterday evening I had an excellent conversation with my flatmate and I thought to write about one of the topics we talked about, which was education and obedience (to come soon though!). However this morning I was confronted with my own life as it is at this moment and I changed my mind, ending up preferring to write about intuition (or gut feeling).

Everyday-Self-Love-ImageI have been wondering on what my next post would be. Life has been offering me so many experiences and food for thought that is actually difficult to choose what are the most important or interesting reflections to share. Then I realised that there is a red thread that is actually common to all the situations I had in mind: Love.

Seems a bit of a cliché subject or perhaps even démodé. Who cares about love nowadays, when the main values uplifted by patriarchal-capitalist culture are linked to power abuse (exploitation of the ‘weakest’), money, violence and competition? There is no place for love indeed… Anyway I decided to run a risk, hopeful in finding likeminded readers, or not so much, but that will, who knows, at least give a thought to Love.

2014 – Year of Women Social Entrepreneurs

Standard

women-power1.jpg

The International Women’s Day is quickly approaching and it seems kind of obvious to post something related to it on the blog… I would like to dedicate this post to the subject of women and social entrepreneurship, starting to highlight that Woman2Woman Networking has chosen ‘Women and Social Entrepreneurship’ as the theme of this year. ‘Year’, exactly, because women’s advancement and empowerment cannot be achieved in a single day only, contrariwise it requires a constant effort in the form of advocacy work and training of women and men around the planet.
